AHC’s $100,000 Capital Campaign

God will empower our congregation to raise more than $100,000 in 2018.

This will enable us to complete construction of our new Children’s Ministry Wing with no more than $200,000 debt.

Thank you for joining with us in praying in faith believing, speaking in faith believing, and giving in faith believing.

When Nehemiah shared his vision to rebuild Jerusalem, his countrymen declared, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work. (Nehemiah 2:18)

And when God commanded Moses to build a tabernacle in the desert, God told him, “Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring Me an offering. From everyone who gives it willingly with his heart you shall take My offering . . . .” Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting . . . . So they continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning . . . . Then the craftsmen . . . spoke to Moses, saying, “The people bring much more than enough . . . .” (Exodus 25:2; 35:21; 36:3, 5)

It’s important to note that both the expansion offering and the faith promise do not replace your tithes. Tithes are still needed to cover the ongoing operating expenses of the church.

Expansion Offering

The Expansion Offering is a one-time offering of each family’s best sacrificial gift. Each individual/family is encouraged to seek the Lord to determine what they are being called to give. It should be over and above your tithe, and it should require sacrifice. As King David said, “[I will not] offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.” (2 Samuel 24:24)

Brainstorm creative ways to cut expenses and/or earn extra money. Perhaps you can give up eating out or some other non-essential expense. Perhaps you can do odd jobs, sell possessions, or hold your own personal fundraiser to raise extra money.

Six-Month Faith Promise

The Faith Promise will run from May through October. This is an offering out of your normal income and is over and above your tithe. Note that this is a pledge, not a covenant. Should your circumstances change—through job loss, illness, etc.—you are free to adjust your pledge accordingly. Offerings may be made at any time during the month using the designated Capital Campaign envelopes.

All families can participate in the Faith Promise. Even if all you can spare is a few dollars a month, don’t miss out on the opportunity to invest in our children and to experience the blessings of obedience and sacrifice.

Remember how Jesus praised the poor widow who put two mites into the temple treasury: “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12:43-44)

Fundraiser Events

We believe it is scripturally ordained that it is the responsibility of God’s own people to provide the bulk of the funds to complete God’s work.

That said, we will work together as a church on no more than two events to raise funds from the community outside of AHC. These events are dependent on individual attendees to come forward with a proposal for an event and a commitment to spearhead the effort, as well as the participation and support of as many church attendees as possible to pitch in and lend a hand.

Jim and Audrey Boyer have already stepped up to hold a fundraiser dinner on April 28. Everyone in the church is asked to sell tickets to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc.; donate baked goods for dessert; and volunteer for set up, food preparation, serving, and/or cleanup. This event has the potential to raise between $2,000 and $6,000.

The second fundraiser event is yet to be determined. We’re seeking proposals from attendees willing to spearhead an effort, whether it be a yard sale, an auction, or something else. Previous yard sales have raised more than $6,500. We’re looking for a single event with a potential to net $8,000 to $10,000.
